Hotel and Inn Feature: The Wine Museum Hotel & Resto (Pasay City)

The family oriented Wine Museum, a, non-smoking establishment, comprises a hotel, a restaurant and the Wine Education Center.  Conveniently located close to the NAIA 1 and NAIA 3 terminals, this 4-storey mid-range hotel withthe comforts of an expensive hotel, is owned by the Joseph brothers who also own Philippine Wine Merchants and Ralph's Wines and Spirits, both with the biggest wine portfolio in the country. The Wine Museum is also a foundation created to educate people about wines.

The Wine Museum’s hotel rooms, located at the third and fourth floors, features standard rooms (PhP3,140) with queen-size beds; de luxe rooms (PhP3,340) with 2 single beds; superior room (PhP3,540)  with queen-size bed; and a spacious, fourth floor suite (PhP4,040) with king-size beds lounge area  and  a digital exercise bike.

Tariff rates include breakfast for 2 plus a bottle of wine.  All rooms are airconditioned and provided with duvet, down feather pillows, private bathroom, shower, 32” LCD cable TV, a small, well-stocked refrigerator, coffee making facility, hair dryer, intercom and complimentary, high speed  wi-fi internet access.

Its fine dining restaurant offers an excellent fusion of Spanish, American and Filipino cuisine.  For starters (PhP200-300), try their Vigan Longaniza, Mushroom Vinaigrette, Gambas al Ajillo (shrimps with garlic), Sizzling Seafoods and Tortilla de Patatas.  Pasta dishes (PhP150-175) include Pasta Putanesca, Pasta Bolognese and Pasta Carbonara.

For the main courses (PhP180-450), try their Pescado Almendras (fish fillet with almonds), Bobby’s Fried Chicken, Paella Collonial, Chicken al Ajillo, Steak a la Pobre, Pescado con Ali Oli (fish fillet with garlic and oil vinaigrette), Salpicado de Carne, Callos Madrilenyos, Ozzo Buco, Lengua Sevillana, Fish Fillet Salsa Verde and, their bestseller, Crispy Toro (deep fried marinated beef shank).  Desserts include Hazelnut Crepes a la Mode (PhP150).

Definitely the perfect place to drink wine, they also offer an exceptional and extensive selection of fine wines by the bottle.  They also conduct wine tasting at least three times a month, for a fee, and conduct wine seminars from time to time.

They provide facilities, including hotel and restaurant, for on-the-job training for students, managers, practitioners and educators. The multi-purpose training center, at the second floor, also houses a mini-museum of sorts, with wine artifacts such as an antique wine pressing machine, an old grape vine, oak barrels plus photographs and documents relating to wines.  They also have a spa offering traditional Wat Po Thai massage.
