Restaurant Review: Gasthof zur Traube (Mauthausen, Austria)

Gasthof zur Traube

After our tour of the Mauthausen Memorial, we had a late lunch at the family-run, cozy and fine Gasthof zur Traube (translated as “restaurant to the grape”).

Run by the friendly Gen. Manager Andreas Ortner and his wife Monica, the restaurant is located within a historic, approximately 500 year old family house located directly in the center of Mauthausen, along the Danube Cycle Path (B3).

Wiener Schnitzel

Opened in 1987, it offers good, down-to-earth, unpretentious but more than satisfying Austrian cuisine such as a delicious and crunchy Viennese cutlet with succulent puree and the classic Wiener Schnitzel.
