Last July 11, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ms. Christina Garcia-Frasco and Travel Madness Expo (TME) Chairperson and Travel Innovators, Inc. President Ms. Maria Paz Alberto led the official opening of the much-anticipated, three-day (July 11 - 13) Travel Madness Expo 2025, one of the Philippines premier travel and tourism expos,  held at Halls 1 to 4l of  the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Joining the two in the ribbon cutting were Atty. Richard Clarin, Duty Free Philippines Deputy COO for Operations;  Ms. Lesley Anne Calixto-Rubiano, daughter of Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano; Mr. Jetro Nicolas F. Lozada, Assistant Chief Operating Officer for Assets Management for Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA); Mr. Jaime Bautista , former Secretary of the Department of Transportation; Ms. Caroline Marie Q. Lising, Honorary Consul of Georgia; and Mr. Dustin Teng-shi Yang , Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Minister and Deputy Representative.

In her keynote address, Secretary Frasco, emphasizing the power of collaboration in driving the growth of tourism in the Philippines, said that the gathering reflects a shared aspiration, not only to promote travel, but to uplift lives across the industry, citing the Philippine Statistics Authority’s latest data indicating that tourism contributes nearly 9% to the country’s GDP and provides employment to almost 14% of the national workforce.

She added, “All of us gathered here today represent a collective aspiration, not just to travel, but to contribute meaningfully – for tourism, after all, is no longer just a leisurely exercise. Rather, and especially for the country, tourism is a source of hope and livelihood for millions and millions of Filipinos.”

The exhibit featured over 250 exhibitors including airlines, cruise operators, hotels, tour agencies, tourism boards and various service providers.
